Everyone Doing It Together III
About the event
On Thursday, 10th October 2024, we hosted the third "Everyone Doing It Together" event at The Trampery Old Street, EC1V 9EY.
Established three years ago to promote ED&I in the marcomms industry, the event unites professionals to transform the industry from the inside out. This year’s new format included roundtable discussions to foster conversations, share experiences, and network with peers.
With diverse speakers from various backgrounds and leading brands, the event provided valuable insights. We were thrilled to have so many join us in driving the change we want to see in the industry!
The sessions
The landscape of EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) in the UK
3,2,1... and we were LIVE with our first session! Our speakers, Nick Myers (Chief Strategy Officer at OLIVER) and Tomasz Dyl (Founder and Managing Director at GottaBe! Ethnic) delved into the current cultural landscape of the UK, discussing the state of ED&I, examining trends, and highlighting key issues.
The power of a diverse and inclusive team
Our second panel, featuring Dorothy Oduguwa (Diversity & Inclusion Lead at Vodafone UK) and Peter McCleave (Managing Director at DKMS), explored why building a diverse and inclusive team is crucial if you're looking to connect your brand with diverse audiences. Our speakers shared real-world examples and strategies, helping you create a culture that values everyone.
So… where do I start?
For our last session, Lucinda Devine-Kennedy (Head of Communications at CAFOD) and James Swanson (Senior Marketing Manager at World Rugby) shared their experiences with successful EDI initiatives and multicultural strategies and gave their advice to a couple of challenges our audience was experiencing. They shared their first steps, insights, tips, and the obstacles they overcame to build more inclusive brands.
