Promotional campaign to recruit BME students

The University of Chichester and Middlesex University take great pride in the courses that they have to offer to all students. The team at GottaBe! have just ran a successful multicultural marketing campaign with them where they targeted BME students from an ethnic minority to sign up to summer open days and apply to study there. This was done at both universities through integrated marketing communications including direct and digital marketing.

This campaign involved online and offline that contained information on ethnic minority community benefits as well as describing university life. They handed out promotional material such as leaflets and posters and had editorials alongside this which used specific language to for the targeted audience in order for them to understand.

Digital marketing included social media marketing, display ads across news portals and e-shots. Facebook is a great way to reach potential students who use the app. By encouraging people to ‘like’ their page, it means that they won’t miss out on the latest information about the ethnic minority community and what the latest that has going on. GottaBe! also used radio as another platform to reach BME students. Listening to the radio can often be a subconscious activity and can reach people more than they may realise especially if they target them through their native language.

The University of Chichester took this one step further and were guests during the Community Hour at the radio station, Unity 101 in Southampton. This was presented by our own Managing Director, Tomasz Dyl who interviewed two current students at the university and one previous student who now works there. This was streamed live on their Facebook page and alongside this, their Twitter account also updated throughout the broadcast, thus reaching more potential students.
