Hispanic Heritage Month 2025: Honoring Latin American Culture and Community in the UK

15th September 2025
 /

From 15 September to 15 October 2025, communities around the world will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, a time dedicated to recognising the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

This year’s theme, “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” encourages us to reflect on the rich traditions passed down through generations while also embracing the influence and innovation of today’s Hispanic voices. At GottaBe! Ethnic, we view this month not just as a celebration, but as an opportunity for brands and organisations to listen, learn, and lead with authenticity.

Recognising the Latin American Community in the UK

While Hispanic Heritage Month is primarily observed in the United States, its significance extends far beyond American borders. Here in the UK, there are an estimated quarter of a million people of Latin American origin, with more than half living in London. It is one of the fastest-growing migrant communities, with the majority of migration taking place since the year 2000.

Despite this growth, Latin Americans in the UK remain underrepresented in national dialogue, policy, and marketing. Their contributions are often overlooked, even as they play a vital role across sectors including hospitality, health and social care, the arts, and education.

This month is a timely reminder that visibility matters. Representation, when done thoughtfully and respectfully, creates space for communities to feel seen, valued, and empowered.

What This Means for Brands

Hispanic Heritage Month is not about a one-off campaign. It is an opportunity to demonstrate long-term commitment to inclusive practices that reflect the realities of multicultural Britain.

Here are three ways brands can approach this month with intention:

  • Elevate real stories. Work with Latin American creators, artists, and community leaders who can shape narratives from within the culture, not outside of it.
  • Recognise cultural complexity. The Hispanic and Latin American identity spans more than 20 countries, each with distinct dialects, customs, and histories. Avoid generalisations and instead take time to understand the nuances.
  • Think beyond the calendar. The most impactful work happens when representation is consistent. Use this month to start conversations and build relationships that continue all year round.

If you are looking for practical ideas, we have shared campaign concepts to help you mark Hispanic Heritage Month in an authentic and meaningful way.

Tune into the Conversation

To support brands in their journey toward more inclusive marketing, we explored how to connect with Latin American audiences in a recent episode of our Culture Shocks podcast.

We discuss the significance of Hispanic Heritage Month, key challenges in representation, and how brands can engage communities beyond translation and tokenism.
